The Korea Coast Guard (KCG) announced that it will crack down on drug crimes nationwide until the end of July as opium poppy blooming and hemp harvest season is coming. According to the KCG, as many as 567 people have been arrested over the past three years, with 100 kilograms of cocaine, 150 kilograms of marijuana, and 145 grams of methamphetamine confiscated. The KCG plans to crack down on illegal growing of drug plants in hidden places such as greenhouses and gardens in fishing villages.
It will also crack down on drugs smuggled into Korea through sea routes using international passenger ships and foreign vessels.
