On Apr. 1, 2021, Ambassador of Finland to the Republic of Korea Pekka Metso visited the Korea Coast Guard (KCG).
Ambassador Metso was appointed as Finland's ambassador to Korea in September last year, and this is his first visit to the KCG.
Kim Hong-hee, Commissioner General of the KCG, shared information with Ambassador Metso on the maritime security environment surrounding the Korean Peninsula and Finland and discussed ways to further strengthen the bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Metso said, "As marine security conditions and circumstances have been rapidly changing, it is requried to promote more active cooperation at the international level. He also promised that he will try to maintain and develop the friendship between South Korea and Finland especially in the area of maritime safety.
Commissioner General Kim said that "I would like to ask for your interest and support so that the KCG can cooperate more closely with the Finnish Border Guard. We will also try to ensure that the bilateral cooperation between the two countries can lead to tangible results."
