The Korea Coast Guard (KCG) announced on Thursday that the budget for 2021, increased 3.4 percent (50.3 billion won) from this year to 1.5407 trillion won.
In the process of deliberating the budget, 340 million won was allocated for the construction of a special archives center that can systematically manage the 70-year history of maritime police, and 990 million won was allocated for the installation of security cameras to prove the safety and illegal operation of naval vessels.
The budget for fiscal 2021 has been changed to a strong organization on site, and the government has increased its budget for illegal fishing, life saving, and maintenance by 30.4 billion won from this year to 96.2 billion won.
The KCG also set up a budget for △protection of people's lives and safety (113.4 billion won) △ protection of maritime sovereignty (346.3 billion won) △ establishment of fair maritime order (56.1 billion won) △ preservation of clean marine environment (15 billion won).
The Commissioner General Kim Hong-hee said, "We will check to make sure that the budget for 2021 is allocated early in the first half of the year so that it can be implemented effectively."
