The Korea Coast Guard will strengthen safety management during the peak water leisure activity season from this month to October. As the number of water leisure related activities increases every year, the possibility of accidents is increasing, but both operators and activists are still falling short of compliance with safety regulations. According to the Korea Coast Guard, there have been a total of 488 accidents involving water leisure equipment crashes and rollover over the past three years, with 347 cases (about 71 percent) concentrated during the peak season (May-October). Most of them were accidents caused by safety carelessness.
