 The KCG Commissioner General Kim Hong-hee visited the site of the 2nd Special Law Enforcement Team to crack down on illegal foreign fishing boats entering the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in South Korea. As Chinese fishing boats are expected to resume operations on October 16, the Commisioner General visited the VTS, which is responsible for marine traffic safety, and 2nd SLET.
From September 24 to October 5, the Korea Coast Guard operated its first SLET to block illegal foreign fishing boats from entering the waters of Korea and to evacuate 2,629 vessels to preserve precious Korean fishery resources. Kim also visited KCGV 3008 dealing with illegal Chinese fishing boats in the Northern Limit Line (NLL) waters and encouraged staff members working day and night to protect maritime territories.
