A passenger ship carrying about 160 passengers was stranded because of heavy fog near Black Mountain Island in Shinan County. A total of 163 people were aboard the ship, including five crew members and 158 passengers, but the swift rescue and calm response of the KCG and the nearby fishing boats did not result in major casualties. At 3:47 p.m. on Saturday, the Pink Dolphin (223 tons) headed for Mokpo was caught on a reef at the northeast coast of Black Mountain Island.
