The Korea Coast Guard is going to introduce a additional long-range helicopter to respond maritime disaster effectively. New helicopter will be placed in East-Sea Area until 2022, and it could rescue up to 21 people including pilots (rescue 15 people at a time)
Equipped with state-of-the-art equipments such as high-performance search radar, optical thermal equipment, rescue hoist, maritime search and rescue missions are available during day and night.
Furthermore new long range helicopter could expand the range of search and rescue area including Ulleungdo, Dokdo, even around Daehwatoe fishery with high stability.
The Korea Coast Guard will introduce two more long reange helicopters in the future and deploy them in waters off Jeju Island and in central and western waters as well.
