As a social issue-drug(GHB) related crimes- has emerged, The Korea Coast Guard launched a special crackdown campaign on drug-related crimes, including narcotics.

To share drug distribution information, the Korea government will establish a cooperative system with related agencies such as the National Police Agency, the prosecution office, the Korea Customs Service and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety

According to the Korea Coast Guard, the government will conduct an intensive crackdown on international passenger ships and foreign ships from April 8th to July 10th on drugs such as GHB, which are smuggled into the country by sea.

In addition, the government plans to step up patrols in island villages, which are suspicious to be densely populated, as the island region secretly grows poppies and walruses, which become the raw material for making narcotics.

In the case of poppy, most elderly people living in the island area grow it in a garden for civilian use in joint pain, neural pain, etc. KCG will use banners and electronic signboards to promote the ban on poppy and marijuana cultivation.

Protective measures shall be taken to prevent the identity of the whistleblowers from being exposed and the reported compensation shall be paid.

At the same time, the special self-help period for drug users will also be provided to those who have the will to treat and rehabilitate drug offenders in advance to return to society as soon as possible.
